Ace Combat Advance is a combat flight simulation game released for the Game Boy Advance in 2005. It is the first entry in the Ace Combat Series developed for a handheld console and notably shifts the franchise's traditional 3D flight mechanics into a 2D top-down shooter style. 

Gameplay and Features

• Genre Shift: Unlike the 3D cockpit or third-person views of its console counterparts, this version plays similarly to the Strike series (e.g., Desert Strike), featuring a top-down perspective.
• Missions: The game includes 12 missions set across various environments, including arctic, forest, ocean, and desert landscapes.
• Aircraft: Players can pilot 10 different planes, which are fictional designs based on real-world aircraft (e.g., the "F-H Hunter II" resembles the F-22A Raptor).
• Mechanics:
• Unlimited Supplies: Players can call "Mother" to repair and resupply mid-mission as many times as needed.
• Destructible Environments: Buildings and objects can be destroyed during air-to-ground strikes.
• Difficulty Modes: Includes "Novice" and "Ace" modes, with new planes unlocked by achieving high "S" rankings. 

Plot and Setting

Set in the year 2032, the game serves as a prequel to Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere. 

• Conflict: Globalization has allowed megacorporations like General Resource Ltd. to become superpowers.
• The Players: General Resource uses its "Air Strike Force" (ASF) to maintain dominance. In response, an international military coalition forms the United Air Defense (UAD), and the player joins as their newest elite pilot to stop the corporation.
