Nintendo 64 non oem reprodction Big Mountain 2000 video game cartridge.

Big Mountain 2000 is a winter sports racing game released for the Nintendo 64 in 2000 (originally released in Japan as Snow Speeder in 1998). Developed by Natsume and published by SouthPeak Interactive in North America, the game stands out because it combines both snowboarding and skiing on a single cartridge.

Core Gameplay & Features

The game lets you control one of six unique racers (plus three unlockable characters), each with distinct stats like cornering and acceleration. As you play, you can customize your rider’s clothing and gear to alter their attributes. On the slopes, players must manage a countdown timer that will result in a disqualification if it hits zero.

Game Modes

• Championship: The primary single-player mode where you race to earn points, unlock new gear, and permanently level up your character's skills.
• 2-Player Battle: A split-screen multiplayer mode allowing two players to face off directly. A unique feature lets one player ski while the other snowboards.
• Time Attack: A traditional solo mode focused purely on beating personal speed records on the available tracks.

Race Types

Within those modes, you can compete in three distinct styles of events down four snow-covered mountains:

• Free Ride: A traditional, free-for-all race against three computer-controlled opponents where the main objective is crossing the finish line first.
• Slalom: A technical race requiring you to maneuver tightly through a series of narrow gates marked by red flags.
• Giant Slalom: Similar to standard Slalom, but featuring a wider course layout with fewer, more spread-out gates.
