Castlevania: Bloodlines (known as Vampire Killer in Japan and Castlevania: The New Generation in Europe) is a 1994 action-platform video game developed and published by Konami exclusively for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive. It stands out as a unique, fast-paced entry in the franchise, featuring a 20th-century historical horror setting, distinct dual protagonists, and advanced visual effects that pushed the 16-bit hardware to its limits.

Game Overview & Plot

• The Setting: The story takes place in 1917 during World War I.
• The Threat: A powerful vampiress named Countess Elizabeth Bartley (Dracula’s niece) orchestrates the global war as a massive sacrificial ritual to resurrect her uncle.
• The Quest: Players must pursue the Countess across six distinct European countries—including the ruins of Dracula's Castle, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, and the Palace of Versailles.

Playable Characters

Unlike older entries centered strictly around the Belmont family, Bloodlines features two playable heroes with completely different weapons and playstyles:

• John Morris: A descendant of the Belmont family who wields the legendary Vampire Killer whip, allowing him to attack and swing from ceilings.
• Eric Lecarde: A master lancer who wields the Alucard Spear, offering a longer reach, omnidirectional thrusts, and a high-vaulting super jump.
