For sale is an after-market Expansion Pak for the Nintendo 64 that will have identical functionality to the original. 

The Nintendo 64 Expansion Pak is a 4 MB hardware memory upgrade released by Nintendo in late 1998. It doubles the console's standard system memory from 4 MB to 8 MB of total RAM, giving developers extra horsepower to expand visual and gameplay performance.

Core Hardware & Purpose

• Installation: The module features a distinctive red heat-sink top and plugs directly into the memory expansion port on the top front of the console deck.
• Jumper Pak Replacement: It permanently replaces the pre-installed factory "Jumper Pak," which contains no actual memory and serves strictly as an electrical circuit terminator block.
• Visual Enhancements: It unlocks the ability for compatible games to scale their display output from a standard 320x240 pixel resolution up to a crisper 640x480 high-resolution mode.

Game Compatibility Categories

• Required Games: Two major retail cartridges—The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask and Donkey Kong 64—will not boot without the Expansion Pak installed.
• Content Restrictions: Perfect Dark restricts roughly 65% of its core features if the accessory is missing, completely blocking access to its single-player campaign, co-op, and counter-op modes. Some fan made ROM hacks like the Super Smash Remix will also not function without an Expansion Pak.
• Feature Expansions: Other titles use the memory to unlock gameplay content rather than raw graphics. For example, StarCraft 64 requires it to access the Brood War missions and split-screen multiplayer, while Gauntlet Legends utilizes it to enable 4-player cooperative play.
• Enhanced-Only Games: Dozens of standard games automatically detect the module to activate sharper textures, extended race replay buffers, or smoothed frame rates (e.g., Quake II, Resident Evil 2, and Star Wars: Rogue Squadron).
