The Rainbow Bridges connecting the seven Rainbow Islands have vanished. Kirby must solve the mystery and battle King Dedede, who has been possessed by a mysterious evil force known as Dark Matter. 

• Animal Buddies: For the first time, Kirby can team up with three new friends—Rick the Hamster (fast on land), Coo the Owl (soars through winds), and Kine the Sunfish (masters underwater currents).
• Power Combinations: Kirby can inhale enemies to gain Copy Abilities like Spark, Cutter, and Stone. When riding a friend, these abilities transform into unique "combo" attacks, offering 28 total power variations.
• Massive Exploration: Journey across seven islands, including Grass Land and Cloudy Park, to find hidden Rainbow Drops required to unlock the true final battle.
• Super Game Boy Support: When played on an SNES via the Super Game Boy, the game features a custom illustrated border and a colorized palette for each world.
