Based on the Acclaim Comic Series, it puts you in the role of Tal'Set, a Native American time-traveling warrior tasked with protecting the "Lost Land". 

Gameplay & Story

• The Mission: You must prevent an evil overlord known as The Campaigner from using the Chronoscepter, an ancient weapon capable of shattering the barriers of time.
• Exploration: The game features eight massive, non-linear levels ranging from dense jungles to ancient ruins. You must find keys hidden within these levels to unlock portals to the next stages.
• Combat: You face a variety of enemies, including human poachers, technologically advanced aliens, and—most famously—lethal dinosaurs like raptors and a cyborg T-Rex.
• Arsenal: Turok features 13 diverse weapons plus the Chronoscepter. This includes traditional tools like the knife and bow (which can use explosive arrows) alongside high-tech weaponry like the Fusion Cannon. 

Technical Features & Legacy

• Controls: The game pioneered a unique control scheme for the N64’s single-analog controller, using the stick for aiming and the C-buttons for movement (similar to modern WASD controls).
• Atmospheric Fog: To manage the N64's technical limits, the game used a thick, pervasive "fog" that limited draw distance. While it helped maintain a steady framerate, it became a defining—and sometimes polarizing—visual characteristic.
• Violence: At launch, it was noted for its intense (at the time) violence and detailed death animations, earning a "Mature" rating from the ESRB.
